General Questions

Comparing Gigstreem to other ISPs you will find that others say speeds “UP TO…” or “AS FAST AS…” Usually, the speeds you are paying for are not what you are actually getting.

Gigstreem’s speeds are guaranteed to be AT LEAST the service tier you are paying for with a wired connection. Guaranteed to never be slower. Also because our internet is built on a dedicated network, with less than 2 hops to the nearest data center, your latency is superior and you do not experience peak slow downtimes. See our blog about how Wifi devices work differently.

Lastly, I think you’ll agree that our personalized customer service with 24 x 7 support is a drastic improvement on any other ISP’s experience.

We currently offer services in Baltimore, NYC, DC, SC, Tysons VA, and Orlando.

Avg install time is 90-120 min

No. The only time your price will change is you choose to upgrade service speeds.

You can get TV service by using live streaming TV & Video services. Cable TV is a lot like a landline phone these days: an unnecessary expense that is shackled to outdated hardware. With the way technology is changing Cable TV will be going away and live streaming services like Hulu, Vudu, Netflix & Amazon will be the way TV is watched. Click here to find out more!

Bring Your Own Device!

A wireless router combines the functionality of a router with the functionality of a Wireless Access Point (WAP). The router establishes an Internet connection within the home by connecting to the Ethernet jack used to provide service. The WAP then broadcasts a wireless (or Wi-Fi) signal that allows devices like laptops, smartphones or tablets to connect to the Internet wirelessly.

Your wireless router should be chosen to fit both your living space and the chosen plan. Please be sure that your wireless router is not a modem/router combo as they will likely be incompatible with GiGstreem’s service. For the best experience, we encourage you to use a dual or tri-band router featuring the latest Wi-Fi generation.

Below is a list of supported wireless routers:

Up-to 400 Mbps plans:
  • D-Link Wi-Fi Router AC1200
  • TP Link AC 1200
1000 Mbps/1Gbps Plan:
  • NETGEAR Nighthawk Smart Router
  • Calix GigaSpire Blast U4 wireless router
Gaming Routers:
  • ASUS Rog Wi-Fi Gaming Router
  • ASUS RT AX-82U AX5400
Mesh Routers:

Google Mesh Router

Yes, you may purchase a wireless router directly from GiGstreem. Please contact us for more information.

To install your wireless router, follow these easy steps:

  1. Place your wireless router in a spot with some open space to avoid disruption.
  2. Connect the port on the wireless router labelled “WAN” or “Internet” to the Ethernet jack using a standard Ethernet cord.
  3. Plug in the power cord and wait 5 minutes to give your wireless router enough time to connect to the Internet.
  4. Use the provided name and password (often found on the bottom of the wireless router and on the box it was sold in) to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

We recommend placing your wireless router in a central, unobstructed location to ensure a strong signal throughout the home. If possible, avoid placing your wireless router in a closet, behind other electronics, or in a place where it would have to penetrate concrete walls.
